Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is now planning for another U-turn as they want stylish middle-order batsman Mohammad Yousuf to come out of retirement and file a appeal against the ban.
Sources in PCB have said that the PCB chief Ijaz Butt has expressed his willingness for selection of Mohammad Yousuf in Pakistan squad but he wants him to exclaim his retirement and file a proper appeal with PCB against the indefinite ban imposed on him.
Yousuf was banned for indefinite period in March over the charges of infighting with Younis Khan which adversely affected the team morale and performance. Qadir asked Yousuf to file appeal against ban so that PCB reconsider ban on him.
“When the bans and fines have been removed from other players, Yousufís appeal can also be considered. I would even say that the board in the interest of the national team must convince Yousuf to forget the past and comeback,” Qadir said.
On the other hand, Yousuf has refused to play in upcoming series against Australia and England and said that he is mentally and physically not in the position to represent Pakistan. “I am not sure when I will be ready for international cricket. The South Africa series is a possibility and I wonít rule myself out of that series, but of course things are not always that simple. I need to have a long and hard think about things and then come to a decision,” Yousuf sai
